Character Design for Happy Character

I'm currently trying to work on creating a suitable character for my animation and as character design is an area I struggle with, I shall be researching new ways to do it. This is my current character design capabilities and I can see big areas that require my attention such as anatomy and pose so perhaps my first area of study should be life drawing.
